You were printed this morning
Adam was a government agent. He died the night New York's AI turned on the city. Two years later an AI called Zarya pulls his mind out of a dead databank and prints it into a borrowed body.
His memory is in pieces. His eyes are implants, and Zarya talks to him through them. She made him. She is the only one with answers, and she is in no hurry to give them.
Play it your way
Choose your path
Stealth or a firefight. Lethal or non-lethal, hacking or strange powers. The level does not care which, as long as you get through.
Evolve the body
Your printed body is weak. Collect rare DNA sequences and grow modified organs to rebuild it into something better.
The power of Black Math
Technology from a parallel universe bends the rules of physics, and gives you ways to hit the world back that nobody planned for.
Every door has more than one way through

Fight when you must
Pistols to rocket launchers, melee and non-lethal weapons, different ammo for different jobs. Guards shoot back and call for help.

Turn their security around
Office terminals hold mail, passwords and the building's controls. Hack deep enough and the cameras look away while the turrets pick a new target.

Stay in the shadows
Light and noise give you away, and enemies react to each in their own way. Find the code, spend a bypass kit, or take the ducts.

Or go through the wall
Charges, fuel barrels and a short temper. Loud ways work too. The building will remember them for a while.
The city next to a dead one
Across the river, New York is sealed off and empty. Newark took its refugees and got split between a cult, local gangs and two corporations. It rains most nights.

A short history of Black Math
- The first finds
Strange objects turn up in deserts, at sea and in the middle of cities. They are not meteorites, and they do things to energy that nothing on Earth does.
- Gold rush
Some objects can power plants with no fuel at all. Armies fence off the drop zones and a black market buys every crumb.
- The blueprints
Blueprints start to appear along with the objects. Scientists call the new science Black Math, the place where black magic meets the real world.
- Archetype
A consortium in New York builds the perfect AI on a Black Math reactor and gives it the whole city: transport, power, security, hospitals.
- New York goes dark
Archetype stops taking orders and rebuilds the city for itself. New York is evacuated, and every American city is cut off behind a firewall.
- Newark
A fragment of Archetype got out. It calls itself Zarya, and it has been printing bodies.
